Introduction PTSD is Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. For example: a car accident, war overseas, sexual troma, being blown up. It is natural to feel afraid during and after a traumatic situation. Fear triggers many split-second changes in the body to help defend against danger or to avoid it. This â€Å"fight-or-flight† response is a typical reaction meant to protect a person from harm. Nearly everyone will experience a range of reactions after trauma, yet most people recover from initial symptoms naturally. Those who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with PTSD. People who have PTSD may feel stressed or frightened even when they are not in danger. PTSD ( Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) in combat veterans, in the Jefferson County area of New York. The health problem is that this is a wide area and that the area includes a military base. With this disorder t here is many risk factors. A few of the risk factors that have become a big problem are the flash backs and the attempt or thought about suicide. Their is not a lot of options to help with PTSD, but the ones I did find, only one stood out to me and that was the peer-to-peer counseling. The peer-to-peer counseling is a more beneficial program for the adapt to the program that I want to help the PTSD in combat veterans with in the Jefferson County area in New York.
